We have intentionally opted for these memberships and standards in order to implement our sustainability concept and our quality standards in a transparent and comparable manner.

The German Furniture Quality Association (The Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. / DGM) sets standards in terms of furniture quality, safety and health by awarding the RAL-GZ 430 quality mark. The approval certificate confirms that we comply with the strict requirements of the RAL-GZ 430 quality and test specifications developed by the DGM.
The Quality Association is made up of companies that have set themselves the goal of ensuring the quality of their products and services and have voluntarily accepted the associated requirements and obligations. The association currently has over 130 furniture manufacturers and supporting members. The focus is on the quality of furniture, its safety and health compatibility.

The international fair trade organization Label STEP campaigns worldwide for fair conditions in production and trade in the carpet industry: the prohibition of child labor and for good working and living conditions for the weavers, for fair wages, and eco-friendly production method

Where it makes sense, e.g. for office products, our furniture bears the GS mark for tested safety.
The GS mark certifies that the product meets the requirements of the German Product Safety Act. Mechanical, electrical and general safety tests are carried out during the tests.

This not-for-profit trade association creates testing requirements that apply specifically to office furniture to assure it is safe and functional. Walter K. tests furniture according application and area of use to the following BIFMA requirements: ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 Office Seating (for chairs designed primarily for office environments) and ANSI/BIFMA X5.4 Lounge & Public Seating (for seating designed primarily for waiting rooms, reception areas, patient rooms, and other assembly areas).

Together with over 2,000 member organizations around the globe, we want to raise public awareness that sustainable construction is necessary and possible.
The DGNB is Europe's largest network for sustainable construction and is oriented towards the requirements of the DGM.
